Biography
Jorge V. Cortés is a Mexican-American filmmaker, writer, and visual storyteller born on February 20, 2001, in El Paso, Texas, and raised in Ciudad Juárez, Mexico. Based in Torreón, Coahuila since the age of 15, he began his filmmaking journey in 2021 with a self-taught, independent approach. His work often explores themes of memory, identity, emotional trauma, and redemption, drawing deeply from his bicultural upbringing and personal experiences.
His short film Contacto Cero, co-directed with Ernesto Valkez, won second place in the Concurso Interuniversitario Torreón en Corto (CITEC), standing out among entries from all major universities in Torreón. The film was also selected for the Muestra de Cine Coahuila 2024.
His short film, Héroe, was officially selected for the 2024 edition of Claqueta Fest, an international film festival. The following year, his short film Vicente was selected for the 2025 edition of the same festival.
