Antônio Tibiriçá
Biography
Antônio Queiroz Tibiriçá, better known as Antônio Tibiriçá (São Paulo, 1898 – São Paulo, 1968), was a Brazilian filmmaker, screenwriter, producer and actor. He was an important figure in Brazilian silent cinema, for being the first to treat cinema as a commercial product, exploring themes such as sexuality and crime to attract audiences, and was also one of the most successful filmmakers of that time. These elements can be seen in films such as O Crime da Mala and Vício e Beleza, both written and directed by Tibiriçá. He was the father of singer Cida Tibiriçá.
