Olympic Moscow in 1980. All marginalized people have been expelled from the city. The authorities have begun forcibly resettling them beyond the so-called 101st kilometer. Among them is the main character, cellist Arseny Chaika. He is very talented, but, from the party's point of view, unreliable.
