Single frame exposures were taken while walking through wetlands surrounding my home, alternating between image and no image at a rate of two frames each on black and white reversal film. In the unexposed black frames, I made quick observational etchings from the preceding images directly into the emulsion. Projected at 24 frames-per-second, the photographic images and my subsequent renderings appear superimposed rather than sequential, unifying the indexical and interpretive.
